SMRS Parents for Progress

Privacy Policy

SMRS Parents for Progress is an independent, parent-managed community for constructive discussion about school safety. It is not an official website of Saint Margaret’s Regional School or the Diocese. This policy explains how information is handled when you use smrsparents.org.

Information we collect

We collect your email address and account identifier to sign you in; the name, child grade levels, and other profile information you choose to provide; questions, comments, votes, and other contributions; and messages or volunteer requests you send to organizers. Our service providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, request timestamps, and security logs.

Google sign-in

If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides basic identity information, including your email address, account identifier, and available name and profile picture. We use this information to authenticate you and connect your community account. We do not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts, or calendars. You can revoke the connection in your Google Account settings; this does not by itself delete your community account.

How information is used

Information is used to operate accounts and discussions, display community profiles and contributions, respond to requests, moderate content, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot the service. We may send sign-in codes, replies, and community communications consistent with your preferences. Where an email offers an unsubscribe option, you can use it to stop those updates; essential account messages may still be needed.

Visibility and sharing

Community content requires sign-in. Your displayed name, profile details, and contributions may be visible to other signed-in users. Sign-in alone does not independently verify a person’s relationship to the school. Organizers and authorized moderators can access information needed to manage the community. Do not assume other members cannot copy or share content.

We use providers including Supabase for authentication, hosting and database infrastructure for the website, and email delivery services such as Resend. They process information needed to deliver those services. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to address abuse or protect safety. We do not sell personal information or use Google account data for advertising.

Cookies and security

The site uses authentication cookies and related session storage to keep you signed in and protect account access. Providers may keep operational logs. Access controls help protect community information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Retention and your choices

Account information and contributions are retained as needed to operate the community, address requests, and meet applicable obligations. To request access, correction, or deletion, email parents@smrsparents.org. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained for security, legal obligations, or backups, and we will explain relevant limitations when responding.

Children’s privacy

This service is intended for adult parents and guardians, not for children to create accounts. Share grade levels only as needed; do not post children’s full names, contact details, private records, or identifying incident details. Contact us if a child has submitted personal information so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

Changes and contact

We will update this page and its effective date when this policy changes. Material changes will be communicated through the site or email where appropriate. Send privacy questions to parents@smrsparents.org or use our contact form.
